The rectangular design of the foam is exclusive to the Pickup 45 and comes as a 2 pack. The coarse filter pad allows useful bacteria to colonize the foam. It is advisable that you should not rinse your filter foams under ordinary tap water, since this would kill the useful bacteria and therefore jeopardize the aquarium inhabitants.
