Aquarium additives and treatments are essential for any aquarium. There will be times when treatments and medications are needed for disease and other problems associated with any freshwater or marine aquarium.

One of the most popular additives being Tetra Aquasafe or Nutrafin Aquaplus which must be added to any water intended for use with an aquarium to remove harmful chlorines and chloramines. Other essential additives include Nutrafin Cycle which works very well when adding regularly as a filter bacteria booster. Aiptasia X is a fantastic new product for the elimination and control of nuisance Aiptasia which most reef keepers encounter from time to time. Also Aquamedic Antired is an excellent product to help control nuisance red slime algae frequently encountered in a marine tank so the skimmer can effectively remove it from the marine tank. There are many common diseases encountered in the aquarium, the most common is Whitespot - a parasitic infection on the fish recognisable by small whitespots which appear on the fish. This must be treated as soon as possible in order to kill off the parasites and then treated again to kill off any remaining eggs. The best treatments for this include King British WS3, Interpet No 6 Anti Whitespot and also Waterlife Protozin. For whitespot in fish only marine aquariums we recommend Waterlife Cuprazin or Aquamedic Pointex. Otherwise you must use reef safe treatments with no copper such as Waterlife Octozin or Aquamedic Exodin.
